President and Chief Financial Officer
John Van de Pol was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for TAQA North Ltd. (formerly Northrock Resources Ltd.) until January 2008. Mr. Van de Pol has 28 years of experience in the oil and gas business. He served as Northrock’s only Chief Financial Officer since joining the company in that capacity in September 1993. Northrock was a growth-oriented, public oil and gas company until it became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Unocal Corporation in 2000. Northrock was sold to Pogo Producing Company in 2005 and in 2007 was sold to TAQA. While Northrock was a public company, Mr. Van de Pol completed several public equity financings, established syndicated bank facilities, initiated a subordinated bank debt facility and completed a U.S.-based debt private placement. His duties included directing and managing the overall responsibility for all financial and administrative matters with Northrock, including compensation initiatives. Mr. Van de Pol provided leadership to a staff complement within the finance and administrative area that grew from three employees in 1993 to approximately 100 employees upon his departure in January 2008. During that period, the production base increased from less than 500 boed to more than 40,000 boed. In addition to several core property acquisitions, Mr. Van de Pol was integrally involved with the completion and subsequent integration of several corporate acquisitions that Northrock completed as part of its growth initiatives (including Inland Gas and Oil in 1997, Paragon Petroleum in 1998 and Pioneer Natural Resources Canada in 2007).
